Disney Magic

"Introducing the Goodman Family!"  These are the words that rang through the atrium as we boarded the ship.  We were warmly greeted by a member of the ship's staff, dressed in their crisp, white uniform, and were directed toward the fabulous lunch that awaited us.   You might think this is a special VIP perk for the select few, but no, this is the wonderful greeting that each and every guest on the Disney Cruise Line® receives as they board the ship.  It's just one of the many ways that the Cast Members seek to make the cruise a special experience for the passengers.  Today I would like to share with you a little about the service in the main dining rooms.

If you've traveled to any of the Disney destinations, you know that customer service is one of the things that Disney does best.  That has certainly translated over to their cruise line.  One of the best examples of their great customer service is in the dining rooms.  The Disney ships have a rotational dining experience.  Every ship has 3 unique main dining rooms, each of which have a distinct theme.  You will visit a different dining room each evening, in an assigned rotation.   The "extra" nights (over the 3 nights for 3 restaurants), are usually special theme nights such as Pirate Night or Formal Night, and will have their own special menus.

The way customer service stands out here, is that your dining room staff all rotates with you.  Your servers know you by name the second night, and may even have your preferred drink waiting at your place when you arrive.  Even the Head Waiter made time to stop by each evening to see how we were doing (and to give Caleb his best ARRR! on Pirate Night).

I remember our Server on the Disney Dream®, was great at interacting with the kids - making them ketchup art and teaching them magic tricks.  The adults at the table were a little concerned when he challenged our kids to put their water glasses upside-down without spilling any water - see if you can figure that one out!   We all stayed dry, and the kids have a great trick to show at family gatherings!

Up Side Down!

Our cruise on the Disney Magic® was a little different, in that it was just my husband and I traveling, and we were seated at a table full of adults.  The customer service was excellent here, as well.  Our server knew all of our names, was extremely helpful in the wine selections each evening, and even brought the entire table an extra lobster at Lumiere's!

All of the serving teams that we have encountered have gone above and beyond to make our meals enjoyable, and to see that all of our needs were met.  Whether it's bringing us an extra dessert to try, or supplying puzzling table games to keep us entertained, these Cast Members do their best to provide great customer service, all with a smile!
